Connor Webber receiving the cheque for $1000 from President Noel LeRoy and Secretary Carol Bocking of the North Queensland Masonic Fundraising Committee.

Connor will be setting off with a group of around four hundred riders to compete in the Townsville to Cairns bike ride on Thursday 28th of July to raise funds in aid of the Children’s Cancer Institute.

All monies raised will be dedicated to the research and prevention of childhood cancers, which requires different treatments to adult cancers. As there is no Government funding for this research, they rely solely on donations.

When the Masonic Fundraising Committee heard of Connor’s passion and devotion to this worthy cause, they made the decision to help boost his fundraising efforts by donating $1000.

Parents Rob and Helen said that Connor has been dedicated to this ride since purchasing his specialised bike eight months ago with all his own savings and has clocked up thousands of kilometres during his daily morning and afternoon training sessions.

Connor’s passion stemmed from the knowledge that other children aren’t as fortunate as him to be blessed with good health and decided that this could be a way to help those afflicted with childhood cancers.

He is extremely grateful to the Masonic Fundraising Committee for their generosity, as was proud Mum Helen, while she witnessed the handing over of the cheque.
